ARE YOU A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR VI PEELS?

The VI Peel is a medical-grade chemical peel that is only to be performed by a licensed aesthetician or dermatologist. There are certain skin types and conditions that are not candidates for this treatment.

If you have any of the following skin types or conditions, you are NOT a candidate for the VI Peel:

            • Pregnant and Nursing – Consult your OB-GYN first before deciding to get aesthetic treatments.
            • Photosensitive – If you are photosensitive (your skin is easily damaged with sun exposure) doing a VI Peel could increase your risk of sunburn.
            • Sensitive skin – If you have sensitive skin, you may be more prone to irritation and redness after a VI Peel.
            • Immune System Disorder – If you have an immune system disorder, you may be more likely to develop an infection after a VI Peel.
            • Allergy – Consult your doctor first regarding your allergies. Be honest with the VI peel specialist if you have an allergic reaction to avoid unwanted negative consequences.
            • Active Cold Sore or Herpes Simplex Virus – If you have an active cold sore or herpes simplex virus, the chemical peel could trigger the virus and cause an outbreak.
            • Keloid Scarring – If you have keloid scarring vi peels could cause the keloids to become larger.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CHEMICAL PEEL AND A VI PEEL?

VI Peel is a type of chemical peel, minus the harsh chemicals and irritation.

The main difference between traditional vi and chemical peels is that the VI Peel is a medium depth chemical peel that removes only the damaged layer of the skin or the dead skin cells. On the other hand, traditional chemical peels remove several layers of skin using active ingredients that may not be suitable for sensitive skin.

The VI Peel also contains a blend of vitamins and minerals that help to soothe and nourish the skin by stimulating collagen production and elastin production.

Unlike other chemical peels, the vi peel is also low in acid, which makes it less irritating and safer for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It also helps even out skin discoloration from acne scars promoting radiant, youthful skin.

            VI PEEL TREATMENT AFTERCARE

It is important to follow the aftercare instructions given to you by your physician after having a VI Peel.

The following are general aftercare instructions that should be followed:

            • Use a post-peel protectant – You will be given a post-peel protectant that is made for you to apply after your treatment.
            • Keep your skin out of the sun – Avoid direct sun exposure and wear sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
            • Stay hydrated – Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
            • Do not pick or scratch your skin – This could irritate and could delay the healing process.
            • Keep your skin clean – Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry. Do not rub your skin.
            • Avoid using harsh products – Harsh products, such as exfoliants and astringents, could irritate your skin.

Following these can help you to have a successful VI Peel treatment with little to no side effects. If you have any questions or concerns, you can always contact us for more information.

            Your Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

            About VI Peel Answered!

What types of skins respond well to VI Peel?

While some chemical peeling solutions have been ineffective for Asian, Latin, and African American skin types, the VI Peel works with any skin type and tone.

Professional tests have proven it to be safe for all skin types, including darker skin tones.

How bad will the peeling be?

The VI Peel causes lots of peeling between days 2-5. By day 6 or 7, you can expect the peeling to stop.

What will I look like after the next few days?

Right after the treatment, you may find the area a bit tan or slightly red. Within the first two days,  the skin may still appear a bit pinkish (with pigmented areas showing up a little darker) and feel tight.

Peeling usually happens around the third day and is most visibly seen around the mouth area.

We usually recommend applying the VI Derm™ moisturizer to the treated area to help make the peeling less visible.

Day 6 and 7 have shown the most promising results. By this time, there are generally no more signs of peeling.

In just one week, you can already see your complexion become even more radiant.

Can I go to work or resume normal activities after the treatment?

VI Peel is a deep peel where patients will want to stay home days 2-4 or 5. There is lots of peeling involved on those days, but it is mostly done by days 6-7.

The skin may also be sensitive around this time. We generally advise our patients to avoid long exposure to the sun, especially within 3 to 4 days after treatment.

To help keep you protected from the harmful UV rays, we also recommend adding the VI Derm™ Skin Care products to your skincare routine.

Does the VI Peel only work for the face?

No, VI Peels can also be applied to your hands or chest.

If you want to eliminate skin damage from other parts of your body, this peeling treatment will also be effective.

Our aesthetic practitioner will guide and advise which parts of your skin can benefit from the treatment.

How should I take care of my skin after doing a VI Peel?

The VI Peel is a very promising treatment for those with various skin issues. As with any treatment, results will only last if the skin is well-maintained.

After the procedure, we emphasize the importance of moisturizing and applying sunscreen.

Especially on the days when skin peeling begins, we recommend avoiding the sun to avoid uneven skin exposure.

Once your skin has stopped peeling and returned to its normal PH balance, it’s best to maintain an at-home skincare routine and regularly visit your dermatologist.
